Blade Profile: Twisted tear drop. The Braca XI was originally designed by Ted Van Dusen in 1992 after 3 years of development and testing with the US Olympic Canoe Squad. Many other brands have tried copying the Braca XI shape, but the Braca XI is the genuine article in twisted tear drop blades.
Blade Construction: 100% carbon fiber epoxy in Extra Light layup.
Blade Characteristics: The Braca XI with its unique twisted tear drop shape provides a very powerful catch and a super smooth clean exit. It’s movement through the water is unique with the majority of the stroke’s power being generated through the catch and the draw fading away from the boat to a quick clean exit at the hip. The Braca XI demands technical proficiency throughout every stroke.
Paddler Suitability: The Braca XI is suitable for experienced and technically proficient paddlers. The Braca XI is very popular with stronger female and experienced male surf and ocean ski paddlers, as well with sprint kayak athletes. The Braca XI accounts for the majority of Bennett’s male paddler orders. The XI 675 is very popular with the experienced female surf and ocean paddlers.
We offer various carbon fibre shaft compositions and colours. For surf and open ocean use we recommend pairing with our Bennett 33% carbon shaft. For flat water paddling a stiffer carbon fibre shaft such as our 60% carbon shaft is most suitable. Alternative blade layup and blade styles and sizes can be supplied upon request. Additional lead time may be required.
